Buying a lawnmower is like buying an appliance. You must understand your needs and the application it will be used for.

Whether you are looking to upgrade your old lawnmower, or you simply want something that will get the job down, you should take the following into consideration. The tips and suggestions listed below have been broken down into categories so that you can quickly use it as a buying guide.

Consider The Size
This is something that you’ll have to keep in the back of your mind, always. You will find that the size of your lawn will decide how big you need, but it is always important that you try to keep it reasonable. If you know the specific dimensions of your front yard and back yard combined, you will be able to keep from buying the wrong sized lawnmower. Keep in mind the tips below on how to buy a lawn mower.

Type of Power Needed
It is very important that you understand the pros and cons of each brand and style of lawn mower considered to be able to choose the correct power for the mower.

You might even consider a completely manual mower. It is nice to note that manually powered mowers are obviously the best environmental choice. While being the most economical choice, you will quickly find that they are also the most labor intensive.

Electric powered mowers are also fit into the environmentally sound choices, but can be expensive.

You will find that gasoline powered lawn mowers are most common. However, they also produce harmful emissions. With that said, gasoline powered lawn mowers are the most conducive for larger yards and yards with a lot of objects such as trees, light poles and swing sets.

Lawn Mower Prices
Since the budget typically determines how far up the price list you can go, it is best to set a reasonable budget before beginning the search for a new or upgraded lawn mower. If you can’t afford the lawnmower that you would like, you may need to review the original budget. You will need to keep in mind that the price will determine a lot of things. Do yourself a favor and consider that the final price of a lawnmower matters less than the actual value that you will receive from the mower.

When it is time to buy a lawnmower, always give yourself some enough time to review several different brands before making a final decision. The right selection, as well as price, means years of satisfaction and service for do it yourself lawn care.

Scotts LawnService company has been around for many years. However, they have not always had the most inexpensive prices for developing a beautiful green lawn. If you watch closely, you can often find discounts for Scotts LawnService.

Although their lawn care pricing is not a one price fits all, they are quite reasonable when a discount is applied. For example, four of the Scotts Lawnservice treatment prices provide for about a 33% discount with special pricing applied.

Whether you want to sell a home, win the neighborhood yard of the month or just give the kids and family a nice green lawn to play on, Scott Lawnservice can help you create the perfect lawn. They will evaluate your yard and develop a treatment plan based on your lawn needs.

Generally, a lawn care program like Scotts lawnservice is setup to bill automatically after the first payment is received. The lawn services are also performed on a regular basis according to the initial analysis. Their field lawn care professionals often apply treatments without even interrupting the customers at home.

Scotts Lawnservice Offers The Following:

1. A professional analysis of your lawn.
2. Apply Scotts slow release fertilizer.
3. Kill weeds that adversely affect green grass.
They use Ortho Weed-B-Gone Pro weed killer,
4. Treat the lawn for insects with Ortho Max Pro insect protectant.

I suggest you give them a try. Scotts Lawnservice company will evaluate your yard and maintain green grass, while controlling weeds year round. The lawn care professionals at Scotts will also provide tips for you to apply between their yard treatments. Be sure to ask for the Scotts Lawnservice discount to help keep their prices reasonable.

I have had an attraction to Zoysia grass for a long time. The funny thing is, I did not know what type of grass it was until a few years ago. Because Zoysia is frequently used on better golf courses (not common on a public golf course), it can be seen often on television during major golf tournaments. Oddly enough, when shopping for St. Augustine grass for a new home, I came across Zoysia Emerald grass.

Because I have had a long standing desire to plant Zoysia grass for my home lawn- front and backyard, I became so excited that the more the sod grass salesman talked about St. Augustine the less I heard. Although I was only there to save money and I was sure Zoysia would cost a little more than St. Augustine, the possibility of having a home lawn looking like a small piece of a golf course was to exciting to overcome. I was going to save money on my new home by installing grass sod myself because my home builder was going to charge extra for a completely sodded yard at move in.

Low Maintenance Grass
I had seen Zoysia on television many times over the years, but had never walked on it. Because this was totally unexpected, I had many questions about the type of grass Zoysia was and its related maintenance. My original intent was to buy St. Augustine when the sod grass farm manager suggested Bermuda grass. For my personal liking, Bermuda was out of the question. However, upon being pointed towards pallets of Bermuda grass, I saw another small pallet of grass that just happened to be Zoysia.

I was immediately drawn to the Zoysia, although I did not know at the time what type of grass it was. Needless to say, all questions turned to Zoysia grass except for price comparison to St. Augustine. The questions were relatively basic- price, growth rate and durability. He explained that St.Augustine is almost half the price of Zoysia. He also said Zoysia's rate of growth is much slower than that of St. Augustine, but Zoysia's recovery rate is quite slow. Additionally, he stated that rotary mowers are not as efficient as reel mowers for Zoysia lawn mowing care. Because that short list of basic questions turned out more cons than pros, I had to stop and reconsider which type of grass to choose.

After a brief conversation with myself, the vote was positive for Zoysia Emerald. The thought of realizing my home lawn looking so nice was too much to resist. Considering how elegant it would look and how much it would be enjoyed while entertaining fmaily and friends was enough to convince me to overlook the cons of future lawn care and maintenance.

The next move was to place the order for the more expensive and possibly higher maintenance Zoysia grass. Shortly after receiving the delivery of pallets of grass, it was installed and looking beautiful. The compliments on my home lawn are never ending. To this day, almost four years later, when I am working on the yard strangers stop and ask about the lawn. The most common question is what type of grass is it? Other frequent questions include where can it be purchased, is it expensive and how do you care for the lawn. Absolutely, the best home lawn project I ever tackled was when I replced St. Augustine gras with Zoysia Emerald grasss.
